Oblisten Privacy Policy

Oblisten is an iOS app for listening to Markdown notes in an Obsidian Vault you select. Version 1.3 uses Apple system text-to-speech on your device. No account, API key, or cloud speech service is required.

Data stored on your device

Oblisten stores a folder-access bookmark, a local index of Markdown files and text used for speech, playback position and history, listening templates, voice selections, and app preferences on your device. It does not modify your Vault files.

Disconnecting a Vault stops access to that folder but retains its local index. Connecting a different Vault clears the previous local index. Local app data is removed when you delete the app according to standard iOS behavior; iOS Keychain data may have a different lifecycle.

Apple system speech and iCloud Drive

In version 1.3, note text is processed for speech by Apple system frameworks on the device. Oblisten does not send your note text to the developer or a cloud speech provider. You may need an internet connection to download additional Apple system voices or Vault files stored in iCloud Drive. Those downloads and file synchronization are handled by Apple's services. Oblisten does not provide Obsidian sync.

Earlier versions with cloud speech

Earlier versions that include optional SiliconFlow cloud text-to-speech send selected note text and a user-provided API key directly to SiliconFlow over HTTPS only when that feature is enabled. SiliconFlow processes these requests under its own terms and privacy policy. Generated audio may be cached locally and the key is stored in the iOS Keychain. The developer does not operate an intermediary server for these requests.

Version 1.3 no longer includes cloud speech or its settings and does not use those credentials or cached cloud audio. Data created by an earlier version may remain on a device after upgrading. Earlier versions may also retain local review records; version 1.3 does not offer spaced-review ratings or scheduling.

Data collection and tracking

Oblisten does not require registration and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. The developer does not automatically receive your Vault contents, playback history, or app diagnostics. Oblisten does not sell personal information.

Support and diagnostic reports

If you choose to send feedback, the app can prepare an email with a diagnostic report containing technical information such as app and system versions, playback state, and recent app logs. Reports are not sent automatically. You can review or remove the attachment before sending. The information you choose to email is used to respond to your request and diagnose the issue.

Children

Oblisten is not designed to collect personal information from children. It does not provide social networking, public user-generated content, messaging, or advertising.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when app features or data practices change. The effective date will be updated when changes are published.
